It’s October so there’s pumpkins everywhere, but that also means dry and cold air which sucks that moisture right out of your skin and hair. Worry no more because those pumpkins aren’t just for decorations and pie, but they are packed with skin healthy vitamins and antioxidants. They contain, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), which increase cell turnover, to brighten and smooth the skin. Pumpkins have antioxidants, vitamin A and vitamin C, which boosts collagen production to prevent the signs of aging while softening and soothing the skin from the dry and irritating weather. They also have anti-inflammatory and antifungal components. Pumpkins are great for treating rosacea and redness. Here’s a quick hair mask and face mask recipe that you can whip up right at home using that pumpkin that we’ve been talking about oh so much.
Pumpkin Hair Mask
- ½ cup pureed pumpkin
- ¼ cup of natural plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons of honey
Combine all ingredients together and mix well. Apply the mask to your hair, make sure to apply it from roots to ends. Cover your hair with a shower cap or a plastic bag to trap in the heat which opens up your hair follicles to allow the mask to really deep condition your hair. Leave the mask in for 20-30 minutes. Carve a pumpkin while you’re waiting! 🙂 Rinse the mask off with warm water, shampoo and condition like usual and make sure to give your hair a blast of cold water at the end to close up those follicles and lock in the moisture for smooth and shiny hair. Goodbye dry and dead Fall hair.
Pumpkin Honey Face Mask
- 1/2 cup mashed pumpkin pulp
- 2 tablespoon honey until smooth
Combine the ingredients and mix until it’s smooth. Apply the mask on a clean face (you can use your fingers or a mask applicator) Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and moisturizer like usual or check our G.M. Collin products and find the right moisturizer for your skin. After rinsing off the mask your face should feel soft and smooth, and more hydrated than ever.
Now you can enjoy the beautiful Fall weather without having to worry about drying out your skin and hair. 🙂
